We have a wide range of different backdrop options available at Trident Studio, all of which can be utilised during your booking.
Our collection of materials etc that can be used as a background or in addition to them is constantly expanding, so the list below is just of some of our more popular ones.
The White Ones
As a sturdier alternative to white seamless paper or vinyl - we built an infinity wall. It spans almost the full width of the studio at 4.5m across and offers a clean and consistent shooting backdrop for everything from single headshots to full length fashion and large family group photos.
Just next to the infinity wall we have our sturdy, 3.6m wide fixed wall, suitable for posing against with the 90 degree corner at the bottom.
Seamless Paper Backdrops
7 rolls of seamless paper are always on the wall at the studio on our heavy duty pulley system. The line-up changes from time-to-time but generally includes ultra black, storm grey, and a mixture of 5 colourful rolls from these: royal purple, mandarin orange, buttercup yellow, rose pink, crimson red, larkspur (aqua) and sky blue. Other colours such as leaf (khaki), tropical green, barley, chromakey green, chromakey blue, peat brown, oyster and sea mist are also stocked in a mixture of widths.
All rolls are aluminium cored and weighted to prevent the common issue of warped, creased and rippled paper that you may have seen at other studios.
Please note: If there's a specific colour that you need, we advise requesting this before making your booking. Otherwise we cannot guarantee that all of these will be in stock / available.
Any paper which is damaged or made dirty during your booking will be charged at £10 per metre for full width rolls and £6 per metre on half width rolls. View T&C
The Fancy Wall
All-grey-everything
A lockdown project that we loved so much that it has become a permanent fixture in the studio!
This mid-tone grey wall spanning several metres along the 45 degree corner on one side of the studio is covered in decorative architrave in the same colour, reaching up to the full height of the 3 metre ceilings.
The satin paint finish adds a different look to the standard matt finishes of other studio backdrops and picks up light in a more dynamic way, working particularly well with coloured gels highlighting all of the contours in the wood trim.
Hessian Backdrop
The fantastic colour and texture of hessian, available in this custom made 3x3m backdrop that can be threaded on to any of our backdrop support stands.
Due to the nature of this material not being tightly woven, we recommend placing this in front of our black seamless paper roll for best effect.
Textured Fabric Backdrops
We have 3 of these textured fabric backdrops at the studio; light grey, teal and a heavily textured darker grey.
All of them measure 3x6m making them perfect for everything from beauty up to full length fashion images.
The material these are made from will always have small creases throughout, but if you want them perfectly smooth then they can be clipped on to our background support stands.
Pixapro collapsible backdrop
At 2.1x1.5m, this double-sided, digital printed, collapsible backdrop is perfect for headshots, portraits and 3/4 length fashion images.
Featuring a grey textured finish on one side, and a firey brown pattern on the other, this can quickly be flipped around to give 2 very different looks to your photos. The microfibre surface means it lights in a completely flat way, unlike cheaper vinyl alternatives which can give unwanted shine / reflections.
It comes complete with several different ways to mount/hang the backdrop, including handy velcro tabs.
Blue "Tardis" Panels
Although never built with the intention of looking like the TARDIS - that's the nickname that stuck.
We have 3 of these 8x4ft wooden boards that can be positioned in multiple configurations to create different looks.
Use dramatic lighting to add depth, or gel lighting to completely change the colour.
Pixapro 180x120cm Softbox
Although not strictly a background, we use this massive softbox all the time to create high-key imagery.
If your subject is placed close to it you'll get a beautiful wraparound light, or further away to produce a silhouetted appearance.
At 6ft tall, it's large enough to do 3/4 length photos of even the tallest of supermodels.
Painter's Cloth
This creamy coloured cloth backdrop drapes and falls in a way to produce great depth.
At 3x4m it's large enough for most fashion projects.
Plastic Dust Sheets
We love how these plastic dust sheets look in photos. Whether they are being used for all of their texture with some gel lighting, or as an out of focus background to diffuse the light and create a hazy look to your images.
We have lots of them in different sizes and levels of cleanliness.
Mermaid Sequins
This long length of blue and pink mermaid sequins measures 6x1.5m and can be used in or out of focus behind your subject for a unique effect.
Move the sequins around to produce your own patterns, revealing the colour beneath.
Grungy Black Panel
Admittedly, this board was destined for something else but evolved in to a happy accident that is now a firm favourite for low key, grungy photography at the studio.
It changes completely depending on how you light it, with a mix of satin and matt areas. Measuring 8x4ft it is perfect for anything up to full length fashion.
1970s Wallpaper Panels
Built for a vintage event, these two 8x4ft polystyrene boards covered in some authentic 1970s patterned wallpaper work perfectly for styled photos.
The boards are joined together, and can be placed side-by-side or in to a 90 degree corner. Combine them with our brown shag-pile carpet for even more authenticity!
Please be prepared for some level of Photoshop with these as the edges of the wallpaper will often lift slightly from the panels.
Black Acrylic Sheets
There are 3 of these 6x4ft glossy black acrylic sheets at the studio which give some crisp reflections in them.
Acrylic is easily damaged, these must not be used as a floor with anything like high heels - any damage will be chargeable and these panels are NOT cheap to replace.
Pink cushioned board
A dusty pink leatherette material pinned tightly over some foam with blue button detailing.
The pink has a fine diamond texture across the full surface.
With a subtle satin finish, this picks up the light very well.
Aluminium Foil Background
It's just turkey foil, but crumpled up and put out of focus it creates a great bokeh backdrop which can be lit in a variety of ways.
There is generally a pre-made background with multiple sheets joined together which can be clipped to one of our background support systems.
Background Support Systems
We have a variety of background supports at the studio, all of which will support 3m wide rolls of paper, vinyl or fabric.
As they all work with the studio lightstands, they can comfortably go up to the full ceiling height.
With the wide range of heavy duty clips/clamps that we stock, attaching and stacking multiple materials across the full width is simple and secure.
